Thanks for "Rej", Âme, aka Kristian Beyer & Frank Wiedemann, surely changed the course of underground music history , a record which has been gone into every worlwide dj record bag besides which their one's preferences and for this reason they carved out a leading position for theirselves on the international music scene, becoming one of the most requested remixers of the moment. Thanks for the success, Jazzanova, Sonar Kollektiv label bosses, assign the two for the launch of this brand new compilation set which will involve all the other well appreciated artists of this German label. The result obviously confirms the expectations, succeeding to combine, in this dj set, sounds from the past and from the future, kinds of music like deep house, jazz, electro, funk, disco, minimal and techno in a quite natural way. The tracklist, in a first reading, could appear a very reckless attempt to whomever but we have no choice to listen carefully, for a global time of 1 hour and 16 minutes, in a way that you could entirely remove your doubts about a similar work. The opening track is Laurie Spiegel's (who is one of the many 70's electronic music visionaries) "Appalachian Groove": the choice isn't all casual because this journey represents a continuation line between past and future, without edges as regards the music in general. This first part, which goes from track 1 to 4, is a true tribute towards forerunners of the actual dance music and it has got an electro/funk form very similar to the dj sets proposed by Daniele Baldelli and Dj Harvey. At the fifth track there is a break given by the poetic "Walk A Mile On My Shoes" presented through Henrik Schwarz's version, so it takes place a jolt forward in time. The musical theme becomes deeper with following tracks: Atjazz's (aka Martin Iveson) "For Real" in his remix version, Ben Westbeech's "So Good Today" in the Osunlade's version and the elegant Jonny L's "This Time (Carl Craig remix)". In the middle of this mix, Âme find time to introduce in the right way the forthcoming release on Innervisions, Sonar Kollektiv's sublabel managed by Dixon; that's Chateau Flight's (aka Gilb'r & I:Cube from Versatile records) "Baroque". It continues even in the most mysterious depths with one of Luciano's masterpieces "Stoned Age", as well as a recall to Chicago acid house music through Capracara's "Flashback '86" and another one to Detroit techno through Derrick May's remix of "Do You Wanna Know" produced by Funtopia. We look forward the final part and we can relax with Âme's "Nia" and with Jump Cutz's "Deep Introspection". The conclusion was to have passed for especially for the country of origin but "Sunrain" is perfect to unplug the current of your cd player!
