Between reality and legend, in Greece stories of common mortals always have to do something with gods of classic mythology. Denis Karimani and others two countrymen (Leon Segka and Argy, unquestionable flag of this generation of young producers) focus all their efforts to let understand the world that also their country have lot to say as regards club music international scene. “Aether” has been originally conceived by Denis and it deals with a particular deep journey toward an imaginary island full of amazing sound which will make lose our head in this musical labyrinth; Leon’s remix is similar to the original, instead Argyris delights us with a dancefloor killer track, upsetting the schemes expected from the starting project and as usual confirming a very high dose of creativity in his work!
Tracklist: 1. original mix 2. Leon Segka mix 3. Argy mix
The legendary Scott Grooves shows up with a new and interesting underground production. “Only 500” gives the impression to be something for few elected people, both for the peculiarity of the track and for the limited press!
Records can offer emotions, some more beautiful, other ones less: all this depends from the talent and the skill of the creator who can determine the final result, everything as it was an algebraic equation. Who produces music not by chance is called sound designer and his own creations fully reflect the sense of geometry. Equipped with pencil and compass, Brendan Gregoriy aka Chymera presents us two very similar but different landscapes in the same time: the 2 tracks of this 12” bring our imagination beyond no end and in this dreaming dimension sunlit by peace and serenity arrives the right moment to free us of our problems and everyday troubles; between the twos I prefer “Planetarium” because has got the potentiality to make worldwide clubbers got goose bumps, wherever they are!
In these modern times the music is always spread through the most different and manifold expressions thanks to the work of many young producers, whose horizons have conveyed toward future and lastingly haunted from the need to create something new. Onur Özer gives me the confirmation of this personal impression and you will think in the same manner after you’ll taste the news of this album which it’s impossible to be classified in a particular kind of music. This journey is an out-and-out introspection and it presents us 8 particular stops, allowing us to get the musical background of the Turkish artist!
Underground Music in Rome was at Brancaleone and as usual offers you the possibility to to let you know what happened yesterday. Every Friday night you can find the "Firewater" event with Italian resident djs from Mantra label. This time was Alex Dolby's turn and he started to play around 00.30 am; the opening set was largely made of a deep-electro sound full of energy and atmosphere.
The guest of yesterday night was a true surprise: the calendar scheduled M.A.N.D.Y. of Get Physical but he couldn't reach Rome for reasons regarding his health and despite of this emergency situation, Brancaleone succeeded to replace him with Argy, who is one of the most talented promises in the international scene. This Greek guy, only aged 22, confirmed the most optimistic expectations and the feedback can only be positive: dancefloor went crazy thanks to a powerful futuristic eclectic sound: a great performance from this charismatic dj, so people didn't have any regret for the great absent.
In New York city the closest bonds with the classicalist forms of house music accompany the orientation of the city sound all along, and, as in this case, influences fly over Atlantic ocean and assert themselves also in Europe. Vega records always proposes productions inspired by the warmth of latin music and this last one sets up the solid link between this famous label and Mario Pagliari, well-known dj in Puglia (southern Italy). Ursula Rucker, away from the stage of Louie Vega’s label from a long time given that the noteworthy temporal distance of “Journey’s Prelude” (released in September 2004), was recalled by this Italian guy through the acappella of “Untitled Flow”, single track included in “Silver Or Lead” album (!K7) and originally arranged by King Britt. Mario’s remix has got class and it won’t surely run away from the finest ears!
Tracklist: 1. Mario Pagliari remix - main mix 2. Mario Pagliari remix - instrumental 3. Mario Pagliari remix - beats
As soon as you will hear the 2 tracks of “Hot Fork Buffet EP”, figures won’t add up; unnerved, you will begin to think if this music is something already listened: quite probably yes, because the talented Mark Henning shuffled very well the cards on table and he could deceive you easily. “Hot Fork Buffet” (my favourite) and “Debut” have all the warrantees to be included in the next Star Wars’ soundtrack. I bid you to present a petition in order to George Lucas could contact this young guy as soon as possible, ensuring that he could finally leave his cursed office and dedicate all his time to the inspiring muses of the music!
Lars Behrenroth picked me for the 215th Deeper Shades of House mixshow (www.deepershades.net) As you can see, the guests choosen are mainly respected and talented djs from different parts of the world and the appeareance of Italians is so unusual, seeing that the only one was dj Rame of Pastaboys trio. I'm taking delight for what happened!!! :)
Here is the link for the tracklist + download of the mix (and also the other one by Lars Behrenroth). Hope you like it (feedback is appreciated)!
This record immediately bring us back of 30 years: in the far 1976 disco music was reaching the climax of its own achievement and the success obtained was only for the merit which mainly consisted to create peculiar atmospheres and incredible situations which come to light in the “prototypic” clubs of this age. Ozo’s pearl named “Anambra” is still today an object of “cult” among the hunters of rarities: the repress is gluttonous occasion to taste a deep, mental, afro, spiritual, hypnotic journey and to enrich your musical culture!
It begins to perceive the arrival of Autumn: temperatures are constantly decreasing, leaves fall from trees and sunny days are becoming unusual but in mid of this melancholy, which has just started, suddenly from the top it comes the possible escape hatch to get out from this depressing situation. It’s neither a movie scene nor a recurring dream… it’s just reality thanks to “Medusa”, result of the work between the arrangement produced by Kemal Golden and Leslie Carter’s soft voice. Same atmosphere of “Sandcastles” but there is the lyrical element in addition!
The trio of the wonders, Mathew Jonson, Danuel Tate and Tyger Dhula aka Cobblestone Jazz, releases its first album, an incredible explosive mixture of techno, jazz, deep house and minimal which sets up, as usual, their winning weapon. The unreleased pieces which impressed me in a particular way, and so I suggest, are “Hired Touch”, “W”, (which was already in the last Cocoon compilation) and “What You Want” (with which is expressly attested the improvisation of these composers of the new age). As it has been always said, winning sound doesn’t change, and so there is nothing left to do but opt for the purchase of the triple vinyl or the cd which features also the unforgettable “Dump Truck” and “India In Me” plus the live versions of the news. At your choice!

The two tracks of this EP don’t have to do with the usual minimal-techno: Andomat 3000 & Jan’s style is so pointed up on the warmth of the percussions and, as regards “Salvarsan” and “Sobria Ebrietas”, these carry us back to the sound of ten years ago… Succeeded experiment!!!
The air and the music which we breathe today, have got something of different from everyday life! If your alarm clock will turn on with a track like this, for a moment you will seem to be inside a dream which takes place during the most relaxing day par excellence, or rather Sunday, and instead of wearing jacket and tie to go to work in office you will prepare for a great walk middle Nature. Enjoy this 12” of emotions!!!
Pay attention to this umpteenth example of “nouvelle musique” coming across Alps: “Clear View” is the new release of LesIzmo:r, label which keeps itself equidistant from digital market and the traditional one. Until yesterday I didn’t know who was James Unk but after examined his version, I immediately note down his name on my notepad. On the 12” the same track is presented in other two forms: the first is an edit and instead the second one is a deep and hypnotic remix made by Exercise One. Excellent fresh production for underground dancefloors!
Tracklist: 1. "Clear View" 2. "Clear View" (Focus edit) 3. "U Can Run" 4. "Clear View" (Exercise One remix)
Summer holidays have finished a short while ago but it seems is already time to go forth again, of course with the music: all this can happen with “Dedication”, Radio Slave’s last creation. You will fall in love with this unexpected and unusual hi-tech jazz, at the first listening, and can’t do without it for a long time. I have been impressed from this particular musical “bridge” between jazz and electronic music, where don’t exist borders among past, present and future. It’s not an everyday release; watch out for this limited 12”!
The Innervisions saga continues with another top release (the 13th). Marcus Worgull is back again with two versions of "Spellbound", featuring Mr. White, (you must keep in mind the voice of Larry Heard's underground anthem, "The Sun Can't Compare") and brand new single called "Under The Sycamore Tree", an house track inspirated by Detroit techno. Are you ready for this?
Ricky L just can’t succed to resist to the overseas recall and he goes back to appear on NY labels again. “The Closing Track” is the a new unpublished work released by the youngest label of Shelter circuit, or rather Timmy Regisford’s Restricted Tracks, and its name immediately allows us to grasp the idea which gave birth to this project. It can say that “The Closing Track” has a special care toward the old-school past of house music but it perfectly introduces itself in the current context: make you kidnapped from this mix of acid sounds, echo vocals and frequent travelling breaks!

Also today for an another time, there will be the occasion to talk about Soul Jazz records, thanks to this brand new compilation composed by 3 cds (about which the first two are unmixed) which encloses everything released from the beginning of 2006 to the last 12”, Matias Aguayo – “A Night At The Tile House EP” (as you could remember well, some weeks ago I wrote something about). The sound of this label is impossible to tag seeing that the plurality of kinds of music recalled from time to time. To be a triple compilation, the price is quite cheap and you will have the excellent opportunity to bring at your following a consistent part of Soul Jazz records’ catalogue. If you don’t want to lose the “crème” of London alternative sound, hurry to buy it!
