Radio Slave - "Bell Clap Dance" [Rekids]

Rekids is ready again to release another bigwig. Matt Edward’s, aka Radio Slave, new single is named “Bell Clap Dance” and as it seems many people already knew it, seeing that top djs made use and abuse during the whole summer season. The track must be highlighted for its essentiality and it builds around a rhythmic made of bells and claps, as well as of a main synth-arpeggiator: the only possible outcome was to create something of practical for the dancefloor. There is also a b-side and the remixer chosen is no less that Sebo K, the young talent of Mobilee records: the transformation of “Bell Clap Dance” is nearly absolute and there is nothing left to do but delight us with a little of deep house!

Tracklist:
1. original mix

2. Sebo K remix

Scaff & Aparatus - "Periodic Fluctuations Of Voltages" [Kontra-Musik]

During my everyday “fishing” of records, particular wave sounds from an unknown origin moved heaven and hearth in order to catch my attention and if here I am to write about “Periodic Fluctuations Of Voltages”, it means that they succeeded in their intents. The 3 tracks of this EP seems to make part of a futuristic top 40 broadcasted by a Martian radio station and it’s impossible to run away from these until you’ll reach to the conclusion they are simply music and not secret messages to decrypt. “SSM 440” is the project a-la “Basic Channel” offered by Scaff, whose tranquillity will make less traumatic the passages from our real life to the dream created by music; instead the other twos belong to an another unknown producer named Aparatus: escaping from “dub”, it seems to go back to the old spirit which motivated the first pioneers of electronic music (Kraftwerk? Jean-Michel Jarre?), to be more precise a despairing and frantic pursuit of creating and let be heard things that common human beings’ brains couldn’t think!

Tracklist:
1. Scaff - "SSM 440"

2. Aparatus - "City Tunnel"

3. Aparatus - "X Presso"

L-Ektrica 5 years party @ Akab - 13.11.2007

Yesterday L-Ektrica celebrated its 5th birthday with a very great party and as usual Underground Music in Rome can't let drop this important event. For this occasion Akab has been partitioned in two rooms in order to make possible the performance of all invited guests. The party began at 12.00 am and the opening sets have been held from the dj residents (Andrea Esu, in the 1st room & Fabrice, in the 2nd one).

The main guests of yesterday were The Glimmers (Mo Becha & David Fouquaert) and they gave life to a massive and powerful performance, a back to back session (one/two record/s per head) of pure electro at 360 degrees; a similar sound has been perceived in the 2nd room with Rodion's live. During the final part of the night, Marco Passarani and Busy P played a key-role and their experience has been decisive to close the party in the best possible way.

Various Artists - "Four Seasons EP" [Diynamic]

Until this moment, the group of guys behind Diynamic has worked greatly and at last it’s time to celebrate the first goal of this young and promising German label: the 10th release! I exclusively give forth that “Four Season EP” will be composed by 4 tracks and as you’ll see from the following titles, everyone represents each quarter of the year according a particular point of view: on the A-side we find H.O.S.H. – “Drums Of Spring” e Gruber & Nürnberg – “Floating Clouds In Summer”, instead on the other one there are Stimming – “1000 Words In Autumn” e Solomun – “Second Kiss In Winter”. As usual the least common denominator of all Diynamic releases is the deep sound, melodic and hypnotic in several ways: seeing that we have nearly arrived to the winter period, the season introduced by Solomun seems to be the winner of this “contest”, where anyway every partaker was able to embarrass the “jury” showing the most noteworthy and different qualities!

Tracklist:
1. H.O.S.H. - "Drums Of Spring"

2. Gruber & Nürnberg - "Floating Clouds In Summer"

3. Stimming - "1000 Words In Autumn"

4. Solomun - "Second Kiss In Winter"

Robert Owens - "I'm Strong" [Clone Classic Cuts]

You can’t pass up the repress of “I’m Strong”, one of the records which at its time strongly entered in the history of house music. Originally released on Alleviated records in 1987, age wherein producers made an indiscriminate use of analogical synthesizers and drum machines like Roland TR-909: the technology of that periods was different from today’s one, so these first arrangements weren’t the most elaborate but rather essential and in the same time witty in order to execute their main purpose, to be more precise make people dancing and entertaining through music. The skill of a producer as Larry Heard and the Robert Owen’s divine voice allowed them to create “I’m Strong” and many other gems which nostalgic people couldn’t never forget!

Tracklist:
1. Fingers Inc. - "I'm Strong" (instrumental mix)

2. Robert Owens - "I'm Strong" (house mix)

Steve Bug / Various - "Fabric 37" [Fabric]

Great djs always have to do with the series named “Fabric” (the club, based in London, has a scheduling to make envy everybody in the world, check the calendar so you will become aware), and this regards also the Steve Bug’s case, surely one of the best as well as boss of respected Poker Flat recordings. This volume #37 is a very interesting lesson which allows us to analyze the German dj/producer under the most different points of view: I would begin to highlight his tracklist which from the begin reflects a refined, unique and non-casual choice of tracks; few succeeds in this intent and here we can find a confirmation of a work characterized by a particular devotion, whose first aim consists to propose the best after a wearing search begun many years ago and still today continues. The 22 tracks of the compilation create a gluttonous occasion to explore at 360 degrees the deepest and darkest meanders of club music, especially if our helmsman is called Steve Bug: the musical thread has roots of different extraction as deep house, minimal/tech sound and dub, and has linked by a peculiar atmosphere which you will perceive only when you will find this dj at decks; pay much attention to this session seeing that presents titles recently released. Excellent work, congratulations!

Quarion - "Karasu" (remixes) [Drumpoet Community]

“Karasu” has been one of the releases thanks to Drum Poet Community, Compost Records little sister, succeeded to build its own reputation in the scene.
The two remixes are excellent and show us Quarion’s project under two different points of view: Deetron’s version shoots us forth in the deep house techy edge, in a future (maybe near) where we will be able to see human beings, Martians and aliens, coming from the remotest area of universe, dancing together in whatever club; instead the other one has been treated by Crowdpleaser and his work completely reflects the sound which this label always offered: the music as poetry and as an introspection journey in search of ourselves!

Tracklist:
1. Deetron remix

2. Crowdpleaser remix

Sugardaddy - "Stripped To The Bone EP" [Tirk]

Today’s review is dedicated to “nu-disco”: I occasionally lighted on searching for this kind of music but up against certain records we shall have no choice but to take off the hat and to go shaking hands with the talented producer/s of the circumstance.
Sugardaddy duo, composed by Tim Hutton and Tom Findlay (one-half of Groove Armada), stun us with this “thrashing”, making lose the five senses, and these words should be enough to let understand you the devastating nature of this EP: “Stripped To The Bone” is the killer-track of this 12” but also the other ones, “Pimp In Me” and “Wack”, are of quality. In short we are opposite to 3 productions inspired by italo-disco (the so-called electronic “branch”) and by a pinch of funk. This is an ace in the hole!

Tracklist:
1. "Stripped To The Bone"

2. "Pimp In Me"

3. "Sample Wack"

Paul Brtschitsch - "Hook Up" [Leena]

Leena, Mobilee’s sister label, flies with this third release. Don’t be amazed if you have to do with the umpteenth unknown producer: one of the main constants of Anja Schneider’s labels is to bet on young talents because it’s an inevitable stage to go on being there also in the future. Paul Brtschitsch introduces himself as best as he can, seeing that the 2 tracks of this 12” are able to fascinate every listener. The borderline between house and techno is really thin, but don’t panic! The Brtschitsch’s creations, inspired by Detroit sound, establish the right atmosphere for an unusual party: “Hook Up” and “Rotate 1976” take us during this long journey toward the remotest areas of universe!

Tracklist:
1. "Hook Up"

2. "Rotate 1976"

François K. - "The Road Of Life" [Deep Space Media]

It’s been a long time I have been waiting Mr. Kevorkian’s comeback with anxiety and finally it has arrived “The Road Of Life”, the new single which will be released on Deep Space Media, one of Wave Music’s sub-labels. The NY guru goes back to clasp his magic wand, taking out the umpteenth brainwave: the unique mix of elements coming from different kinds of music as dub (omnipresent in Deep Space Media’s productions), electronic and a typical rhythm of reggaeton gives life to a track which will excite a lot clubbers. Quiet Village (Matt Edwards, aka Radioslave, and Joel Martin) received the charge to package the remix of this delicacy which will occupy the b side. “The Road Of Life” has been reallocated in a more traditional club context and the two British producers create a true killer weapon for dancefloor: for all its length, the hypnotic lead goes with an energetic beat and the emphasis of reverbs and filters give us the impression to be in a steel mill. Passed with highest grades!

Tracklist:
1. original mix

2. Quiet Village sound factory dub

Komytea - "Kanyon" [Laka]

Here is a new interesting release of the new-born Laka! “Kanyon” is a project by Komytea, two Finnish producers who surely have talent to sell. The original track follows parallel the two branches of tech and progressive house: a journey full of atmosphere and energy ready to rock any dancefloor. Very good the Dirt Crew, a much respected duo, remix about which it must be immediately highlighted the hypnotic bassline which will drive clubbers toward an euphoria without precedents!

1. original mix

2. Dirt Crew remix

The Timewriter / Various - "Deep Sense vol.5: Sensual Dawn" [Plastic City]

For this week I chose “Deep Train vol.5: Sensual Dawn”: I have been too impressed by this compilation which offers us a very peculiar musical journey through the deepest and darkest meanders of club music. The 15 tracks accurately selected by Jean Frank Chocois, aka The Timewriter, belong to an excellent mix and show us deep house under a characteristic appearance close to poetry wherein the ruling atmosphere allows the blending of voices, rhythms and synthesized sounds, different among themselves. “Deep Train vol.5: Sensual Dawn” is the effective therapy for your awakening!

Tracklist:
1. Pete Gust - "Nightlife"

2. Diogenes Club - "Jaunt" (Mazi & Joshua Collins remix)

3. Cosmic Belt - "Neon Shuffle"
